Store visits and field visits are where your team talks about the crop. Anyone who can see a visit can like it, comment on it and reply to other people's comments, and type @ to bring a colleague into the conversation. Each of these can send a notification, so the right person hears about it without having to go looking.
Along the bottom of each card are a comments button, showing how many comments the visit has, and a like button.
You can't type a comment on the card itself. Click the comments button, or View Visit, to open the visit in a panel on the right. The comments are at the bottom of the panel.
The same panel opens from:
View in a row's menu on the Record Keeping › Field Management › Visits table. See Recording a visit.
A comment, like or mention notification. See Notifications below.
WARNING
On the Record Keeping › Storage › Visits table, the View option in a row's menu doesn't open anything at the moment. To read or add comments on a store visit, use Visits › Store Visits or the store's Visits tab instead.
Forum posts in Community have their own likes and replies, which work separately from visits.
Scroll to the bottom of the visit panel to reach the Comments section.
Each comment shows who wrote it, when, and what they said. Under it are its own like button and a Reply button. Replies sit under the comment they answer, indented. If nobody has commented yet, it says No comments have been left yet...
To make sure a colleague sees your comment, mention them:
In the comment box, type @ followed by the start of their name.
A list of matching people appears above the box. Click a name to add it, for example @Alex Morgan.
Finish your comment and click Send or Reply.
The list only offers people with access to that store, or to that field visit's planting. A field visit recorded before planting has no planting, so its list is empty. Mentioned names are highlighted in green once the comment is sent.
TIP
Pick the name from the list and leave it exactly as it's added. Potato Diary works out who you've mentioned from the @Name in the text, so if you change the name, that person isn't mentioned.
Click the like button (the thumbs-up) on a visit card or under a comment. The thumb turns green and the count goes up by one. Click it again to take your like back.
The count shows everyone's likes together, for example 2 likes. It doesn't show who liked it.

A few rules keep this from getting noisy:
You're never notified about your own comments, replies or likes.
If a comment both mentions you and would notify you as the visit's recorder or the comment's author, you only get the mention.
You're only notified the first time you're mentioned in something. Editing a visit's notes doesn't notify the people already mentioned in it.
Taking back a like doesn't send anything.
Each person chooses whether these reach them by email, in the app, or as a push notification on their phone. Likes can't be sent by email. See Managing notification preferences.
Comment, reply, mention and like notifications appear under the bell at the top right of the app, if you've left In-app switched on for them. See Getting around the app.
Click one to open what it's about:
For a store visit, the Store Visits page opens with the visit in the panel. If the notification is about a comment, the panel scrolls to that comment and highlights it.
For a field visit, the Field Visits page opens with the visit in the panel.
Notification emails have a button that does the same.
Anyone who can see a visit can see its comments and like it. Leaving a comment needs the comments permission, which comes with the Default role that every team member has. See Team Users.
When a visit is deleted, its comments and likes go with it.
